Teach In Europe

With its variety of cuisine, culture, history and languages, Europe is an alluring teaching destination. It offers an exciting lifestyle that appeals to many LCC graduates.

There are plenty of teaching opportunities in Europe for teacher candidates who are fluent or native English speakers; possess a four year college degree; have earned a 100-hour TESOL/TEFL certification; come across as good communicators during their job interviews and are eligible to live and work in Europe. Most of our graduates, who are American citizens, are not automatically eligible to receive a European work permit, but do secure jobs in European countries through the support of our Job Placement Service.

Business English is especially important in Europe as companies from different nations are conducting business in English. Consequently there is a high demand for Business English and a niche market for American Business English teachers. Our Job Placement Service exploits that niche by leveraging the job applications that are received by European employers. The trick to securing working visas or work permits in Europe is by first obtaining teaching positions. Our Job Placement Advisors emphasize the Business English training our graduates receive during the TESOL Certification course to help them secure teaching positions and an EU work visa.

The importance of building good relationships with prospective employers is more apparent when pursuing teaching jobs in Europe. Obtaining working visas requires getting sponsorships from Directors of language schools, and they need to be sure of their hiring decision before they do so. We help the relationship building process between our students and employers by helping them to manage their correspondence so that the are perceived optimally.

Once our students receive offers of sponsorship from employers, we review teaching contracts and make sure that they are getting the right rate of pay and benefits. If we do not already know the schools offering employment, we run background checks to determine the schools' reputations.

The majority of ESL employers hire ESL teachers on a freelance basis. There are various different rules regulating how freelancers are employed and the working visas they receive in different European countries which we assist with.
